Professional profile

I was appointed as Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon in September 2002, working at Barnet Hospital and Edgware Community Hospital. I qualified from the Royal London Hospital in 1989 and spent my early training years in North East Thames Hospitals. My specialist training was in the South East including Guy's and Royal Sussex County Hospitals. I was appointed a clinical fellow in a Sydney teaching hospital, working particularly in the colorectal and trauma units.

As a consultant, I have expanded my colorectal practice to perform laparoscopic resections for colorectal cancer and introducing new haemorrhoid procedures. As clinical lead for endoscopy at Barnet, I have dedicated my time to improving the endoscopy service. My other main interest is hernia repairs under local anaesthesia. I also perform a paediatric list of hernia repairs at Barnet Hospital. Although my surgical workload provides a busy schedule, I am also committed to training, teaching on MRCS courses and organising courses for students and junior doctors.

Personal Profile

I have recently moved to Stanmore, enjoying the greener side of suburbia. My interests include running the London Marathon (on nine occasions) for charities such as Bowel Cancer UK and Childline. At Barnet Hospital I have produced an annual Christmas show for the last four years, using the talents of medical and non-medical staff.
